Legacy is seeking a Temporary Maintenance Technician / Grounds person for a 248-unit cooperative property in Lansing, Michigan. As a Grounds/Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining property grounds (clean up and trash removal), unit turns (tear down and maintenance repair of vacant units) and completing residential work orders in timely and accurate manner. The ideal candidate will have 1 or more years of experience with multifamily housing, basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and unit turnover experience.  The Maintenance Technician / Grounds person will also have experience with grounds maintenance including tree and bush trimming and garden maintenance.  This position requires the ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions. Teamwork with the ability to work within different departments and with other staff is necessary to be successful. 


Temporary status may lead to permanent employment.




  • High School Diploma, GED, or some college credits from a technical school; or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • One or more years of experience with multifamily housing preferred 
  • Proficient in plumbing, electrical, structural, and appliance repair
  • Experience with drywall repairs and painting are a plus
  • Grounds maintenance experience including tree and bush trimming and garden maintenance 
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and as a team member 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships 
  • Customer Service attitude in all interactions with staff and residents
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • HVAC Certification is a plus
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and/or evenings required
